The Americans call it fall – but this year’s autumn season at CPT feels like phoenix rising from the Covid ashes. Actual shows! On our actual (refurbished) stage! By the UK’s most exciting new artists, released from eighteen-month seclusion!

If You Love Me, This Might Hurt
(c) Corinne Cumming

After our pilot re-opening in the summer, here it now is: a three-month programme of extraordinary new adventures in theatre, many of which we’ve been impatiently waiting to share with you. We’ve got Matty May’s heart-rending and funny If You Love Me, This Might Hurt, which you must not miss. We’ve got Tom Ryalls’ part-party, part-performance experiment Education, Education, Karaokeaddressing New Labour’s broken promises on class. We’ve got out-there new work from indie theatre icons Sue Maclaine and Hannah Ringham and returning CPT favourites including Frankie Thompson, Sh!t Theatre and Tom Cassani.

Two pandemic years have taught us what we value about a night at the theatre. This is what we value: extravagant new talent bursting with things to say, and an audience assembled to share in that, and respond. Join us! Our new sliding doors are wide open, our new bar is well stocked – and we’ve got a legion of artists here to entertain you…
