“I’m just going out to destabilize western civilization.”

“Can you take the dog with you?”

An anonymous man and woman are trying to pin down the facts. Any facts. But hurried along by a relentless modern world, stricken by disasters, how do we know where to focus? How do we know what’s true?

With the facts literally shredded on the ground, this darkly comic show explores our confusion at jargon and excess in today’s world. The Last Straw challenges audiences to consider the dystopian absurdity of modern communication and how we can survive together?

This visually stunning new show was devised and previewed at Ovalhouse, London in February 2017 as part of the company’s 50th Anniversary programme.

The Last Straw was nominated for the TBC Offie Award for Productions that Defy Traditional Categories.

About the company

People Show are an artist collective who formed the UK’s first experimental theatre company in 1966. Creatively always shifting shape and actively defying definition, our approach to creating live performance has always gone against the grain and resisted form. We take inspiration from everywhere, respond to the moment and never limit the scope of our ideas.
