The Epidermis: Looking Beneath Our Skin
SKINNED:LIVE breaks out with a day under the skin in a live art study of what lies beneath the surface. Dive into the rainbow-splattered latex pool of Alex Billingham, as he slips and slides from his new skin into a gender fluid future- then step back into the haptic suit of Diane Wiltshire as she takes the wearer through waves of sensation in Sentiment, a transfer of biometric data into physical feeling. Lend an ear to Emily McIlroy’s Listening Jars, or be lured into a vision of blood and burlesque as Winter James moves to the music, challenging ideas of sexuality, identity and freedom. Shower in Magda Kaczmarska’s Beads, Glitter & A Wig in a shattering of feminist embellishments and female identity; and encounter the tumbling mass of Anxiety, Lucy Harding’s origamic structure of photographic psyche.
