“Ever since its sinking, the legend of the Titanic has had a grip over the nation. Songs, poems and billion-dollar films. It’s about time I cashed in.”
Chris is a poet. He works in a coffee shop. He’s never exactly had what you might call ambition. One day he realises that the Titanic is still at the bottom of the sea, and sets out on a fervent quest to haul it up – to reclaim it from the hands of Canadian billionaires and give it back to the people who deserve it most.
He’s doing it for England, for Ireland and his mum. He’s doing it because he doesn’t have much else to do. But he’ll soon discover the sinister truth at the heart of the Atlantic – one which might just wreck everything.
Combining comedy, poetry and songs, Sunked is a spoken word show about salvage, salvation and Celine Dion.
“A zany and vibrant rapid-fire rollercoaster of a show, fuelled by White’s powerful poetic rhythm, comedic timing, and raw, open introspection” – Expose, Exeter
About the company
Chris White is a performer and poet from Exeter. He is also the current Bard of Exeter. He regularly performs locally with nights like Raise the Bar, Milk and Apples and Snakes. This is his third full-length show following Wanderlust (From Devon With Love, 2016) and Facial (Fusion Theatre Festival, PBH Free Fringe, 2016.) His work is often very dark, satirical and surreal whilst at the same time remaining funny and accessible. “Think of the self-deprecation of David Mitchell and the open expressiveness of Russel Howard and you’re halfway there” – Inter:mission, Bristol
