Starting Blocks is CPT’s unique artist development scheme. Each year, five artists or companies develop new work from scratch over an intensive and collaborative ten-week residency at CPT.
In the last two years, Rachel Mars’ hit show The Way You Tell Them, Louise Orwin’s Pretty Ugly and Tom Frankland and Keir Cooper’s Don Quijote have started life on Starting Blocks and gone on to national and international tours, four- and five-star press reviews and extended runs at CPT and beyond.
This year’s Starting Blocks showcase features mouth-watering new work from Foxy & Husk; Joe White; Natalie Clarke and her brother Edmund Sage-Green; Tom Hughes; Lawrence Speck and Joe Wild; and includes How to Drown a Fish by Grace Gibson.
Pale Phoebe by Tanya Stephenson and Joe White
Singaporean Fox by Foxy & Husk
Brothers of Justice by Lawrence Speck and Joe Wild
Natalie Spark and Edmund Stage-Queen by Natalie Clarke and Edmund Sage-Green
The Malick Road Movies Project by Tom Hughes
and How to Drown a Fish by Grace Gibson
