If you want bigger Yorkshire puddings you need a bigger tin is inspired by the conflicting emotions performance artist Lucy Hutson has about her own gender and gender expression. For one year Lucy tried to live the life of a domestic goddess, a homemaker, a mother figure. She iced cakes, made pom-poms with the Women’s Institute, got a one-year subscription to Good Housekeeping magazine and learned how to weave with the Spinners & Weavers Guild of East Essex.

Lucy became a makeshift domestic goddess, and If you want bigger Yorkshire puddings… is a performance in a makeshift world. Through a mix of video documentation of other peoples’ ideas of what it means to be a woman – from her sixteen-year-old cousin to her ninety-three-year-old nanna – and Lucy’s own autobiographical accounts of her life as a not-quite-woman, Lucy creates a hopeful endeavor. Topped off with a splattering of transformation and a huge dollop of buttercream icing, this is a funny, honest and often intimate show about Lucy’s search for femininity.

Talk Show Club

Inspired by the classic book club format, CPT’s Talk Show Club evening is a new way to see and talk about unusual theatre. The set-up is simple: Talk Show Club  members are welcomed to CPT at the start of the evening, then at the end of the performance are invited to discuss their experience within a group. The conversation is hosted a CPT artist unconnected to the event under discussion. Free to join and a great way to meet new people, Talk Show Club also offers priority booking, affordable tickets and a free post-show drink.

Milk Presents will be hosting the next Talk Show Club after Lucy Hutson's If You Want Bigger Yorkshire Puddings… on 27 March. To be a part of it, simply add the Talk Show Club into your basket when buying a ticket online, or give us a call on 020 7419 4841.
