It’s all Christmassy in the other side of town. But in this school with 16 young people there’s blood sweat and tears. No one knows where they are, or if they’re going to come back.

Fifteen young people and one devilish teacher. All stuck in this school together. How much do you have to punish naughty children for them to learn the true meaning of Christmas. The true meaning of why everyone is so joyful this time of year. The clock is ticking only a few days left for the children to let their minds work together and plan a way to escape or win all the challenges for them to get home to see their loved ones. Or maybe they will convince their Scrooge teacher to change her mind.

Will they be set free? Who knows?

Eritrean Youth Club, have got together to devise a special Christmas piece. Nightmare before Christmas first stemmed from conversations with the young people about super powers and their favourite novelty characters that they are inspired by. Nightmare before Christmas will ensure you as  an audience will be scared, laughing and also ready to dance as the young people triumph the challenges they have been set out to do.

Writing and Co-directed by Segen Yosef.
Movement and Co-directed by Samra Ghile.
Devised and Performed by Eritrean Youth Club.

Please note, this performance may contain strobe lighting.
