Presented by Vanessa Macaulay
Made Not Born is my personal story of growing up in Hertfordshire, trying to fit in. From Swan Lake to the Spice Girls via a bodybuilder mother, Made Not Born is a search for belonging.
In the creation of this piece, it became clear that my relationship with my mum is a significant part of my search, which is influenced by the Internet, my mother’s body and our link. Follow me as I navigate a way to view my life, in my body, in Britain.
“Macaulay’s “Made not born” is a fresh and compelling take on the big topics of identity and belonging. With her great stage presence, Vanessa presents a witty act of balancing between…fragility and force.” – Tatjana Kijaniza, Queen Mary University
Development supported by Talawa Studio First Programme 2019.
