Presented by MALAPROP Theatre
LOVE+ is a one-woman two-hander about the inevitability of human/robot relationships, devised by the MALAPROP company which includes director Claire O’Reilly, performers Breffni Holahan and Maeve O’Mahony, and Verity Bargate Award-winning writer Dylan Coburn Gray.
It asks: What happens to romance when there’s a machine who cooks for you, cleans for you, never forgets your birthday or how you like your tea, tells you you’re beautiful, holds you when you’re crying, and still makes you cum?
It contemplates loving, being loved, being human, and whether those things are intertwined. It’s not about whether or not you can love machines, because we all already do – it’s about what it’ll be like when they start to love us back.
LOVE+ premiered at Dublin Fringe Festival 2015, where it was awarded the Spirit of Dublin Fringe Festival and Project Arts Centre Commissioning Award. The show toured to Summerhall as part of Edinburgh Fringe 2017, where they are set to return with a new production, Everything Not Saved, in August 2018.
