As women continue to be forgotten, mistreated and sidelined, In Her Strength celebrates the individual and their story.
This is a 35-45 minute performance (available to watch March 31st – April 7th), combines real stories written by women with an experience of homelessness with poetry, music and live art.
Click Book Ticket to receive a link that will be available to watch until 07 April.
This performance forms part of a wider project where we have been able to provide paid employment for over 30 artists to make, create and share work. This includes a Zine (a book of poetry, art and activism) and 8 short filmed monologues which were released on International Women’s Day (08 March 2021) on InHerStrength.co.uk
This performance is free due to the work-in-progress nature of the piece, and instead, we encourage you to make a donation here.
All donations will be split as follows:
50% to the artists involved
25% to Sisters Uncut, taking direct action for domestic violence services
25% to Solace Women’s Aid, who provide free services for survivors
This is a scratch that was rehearsed in two days, recorded under COVID-safe working measures, and is the beginning of something much bigger. In Her Strength is building towards a full theatrical performance in 2022. Email [email protected] if you are interested in finding out more.
This piece is supported by Camden People’s Theatre Seed Commission, Arts Council England & Arts & Homelessness International.
With thanks to Cardboard Citizens, Clean Break, Old Diorama Arts, Abigail Sewell, Beth Duke & Natalie Vernon.
