A Hotbed special edition
Our regular night of works in progress returns for a series of three special editions, exploring the themes of the festival. This event will include the following performances:
Pillow Talk by Ruby Lawrence
‘…and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.’ Genesis 2:19
Pillow Talk sheds light on the male commentary that accompanies sexual intimacy, in a solo performance piece that playfully celebrates womanhood. What do we find in those sweet nothings that pass from man to woman before, during and after sex? What power do they have over the construction of our sense(s) of self? Using the memories of over a hundred women, Pillow Talk is a striptease like no other. It does not promise to be sexy. | @
Orgasm by About Wolves
Why do cis male orgasms get so much air-time? Are other orgasms really as mysterious and elusive as popular culture would have you believe?
Orgasm is a brave, bold and amusing performance exploring the world of non cis-male pleasure through verbatim text and physical theatre in a surprisingly joyous act of dissent against all those who think it is a taboo subject, against all those who have sought to silence discussions on it.| @

Rejoicing At Her Wondrous Vulva The Young Woman Applauded Herself by Bella Heesom
Part feminist performance lecture, part mythic-sex-goddess-epic, part Socratic dialogue between a woman’s Brain and her Clitoris. This new work from writer/performer Bella Heesom (My World Has Exploded A Little Bit) and director/dramaturg Donnacadh O’Briain (Rotterdam, Always Orange) will be a celebration of female sexuality, and an exploration of the patriarchy’s subjugation of women’s bodies, and the impact this has on a woman’s relationship with her own pleasure.
We are in the early stages of development, and encourage your responses to help shape the piece. | @
