Presented by Pablo Pakula
This new audio-visual live art piece interrogates the nature of offence. What offends us? How? And why? Ultimately asking, how should we respond?
Following the structure of a sonata and choreographed to five pieces by Britsh composer Anna Meredith, YES NO BLACK WHITE will allow you to get to know your deepest personal offense-taking mechanisms. What pushes your buttons? Where are your limits?
A cognitive, moral, and sensory attack on your psyche.
You are allowed to laugh!
The piece is a continuation of Pablo Pakula’s ongoing investigation on musicality, the dramaturgy of lists, and strategies to problematise meaning-making processes.
Recommended age: 16+
About the artist
“I’m a European Mongrel, live artist, performance-maker and event curator.
I make work from the position of an outsider. My practice is process-led, socially-engaged and driven by queer politics. I believe performance can really DO something; that it can go beyond rational perception, generating shared experiences that are visceral, conceptual, and emotional…
I also teach at the University of Birmingham.”
