Presented by Polly Clamorous
With four ukuleles and penchant for dark comedy, Polly Clamorous is here to shake off the dust and puncture some myths in this ‘adequately historically-accurate’ musical romp through the ages.
In this intimate cabaret get up close and personal with Lilith; Adam’s first wife who preferred to be on top; Freddie Oversteegen, a teenager who resisted the Nazis with a bicycle and a pistol; and Nelly Bly, the fierce young journalist who feigned insanity in order to write a crushing exposé on the mistreatment of patients at the infamous Blackwell Island Asylum.
HERSTORY brings these stories together, as well as many more, to transcend the edicts of history.
About the company
Polly Clamorous are an all-female musical group hailing from Zimbabwe, Australia, Austria and the crummier parts of Essex. Formed in 2016, the group has been gigging around London & beyond (Theatre Deli, RADA Festival, Brainchild Festival, Brighton Fringe) and last year took their raucous show Lady and the Cramp to Edinburgh Fringe.
“There are witty one-liners sung so sweetly you’d think it was a rearrangement of Doris Day, until you tune into the lyrics” – Ed Fringe Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Previously known as Thrush Metal, and later the Vulvarines, the company keeps a secret box of racy puns which comes in use every time they have a marketing conflict with big-budget touring musicals.
