Tennessee Williams, author of masterpieces such as A tramway named Desire, The Cat on a hot tin roof, and Orpheus Descending (the three plays we chose to explore) received the Pulitzer price and was named «Best 20th century playwright» by Time magazine. His plays were immortalized on screen by the greatest stars: Elizabeth Taylor, Vivien Leigh, Katharine Hepburn, Marlon Brando or Paul Newman. From stage to the big screen, Tennessee Williams left a major trace in world culture and in the actor’s craft. He never ceased questioning himself through his characters on the human folly, marginality and sexuality. With our more experienced group, who felt it was time for them to tackle such material, we measured ourselves to these eccentrics, these scorched and desperate characters. The work was serious and deep and full of passion. All of this to understand better how our contemporary culture is stamped by his contribution and that, like the French song goes: “On a tous quelque chose en nous…” (We all have something within us from…)
