Dates and Times
Thu 25 - Sat 27 Feb at 7.30pm
Presented by UCLU Graters
UCL’s first comedy festival.
Following on from our first comedy mixed bill earlier in first term “Cheddar” we will be putting on another mixed bill for our final night. This will consist of sketch comedy from various UCL societies, stand-up and we will be taking submissions from UCL students to perform on the night, with a limit of 1.5 hours for the whole show.
An evening of historical fun. Members of the UCL Graters and the drama society will be putting on a series of medieval mystery plays. These are plays that were commonplace in medieval times, put on by village guilds and enact biblical scenes. We will be performing three mystery plays, interspersed with historical sketch comedy from the UCL Graters.
This will be a performance of the UCL Grater’s Leicester Comedy Festival show “Red Leicester”. This will be a comedy sketch show entirely written and performed by the cast of the Leicester show, which will have been performed for the first time on the 18th February.
About the Company
The ambition of the UCL Graters this year has been to develop a comedy scene at UCL and encourage even more people to get into comedy. This comedy festival allows us to showcase the talent on offer from not just the UCL Graters but also other societies and the whole of the university. It also allows students to experiment with different forms of comedy on the mixed bill evening, and to introduce the audience to historical forms of theatre on the evening of the mystery plays. This is part of a wider challenge to put on more sketch comedy performances this year from the Graters, which will culminate in taking a show up to the Edinburgh Fringe for our sixth year at the festival.
