Presented by Action to the Word
From the award-winning team that created A Clockwork Orange, Action To The Word bring their world premiere of the German play Busstopkisser by Ralf Höhfeld. An exploration of what it means to be in love in the modern age, where things aren’t real until they’re LinkdIn or Tweeted, where relationships break up on Facebook before they do in life and where you’re a weirdo if you don’t have a smartphone. This interactive audience-participation piece says ‘get your phone out during the action, put your earphones in and fall in love all over again’.
Directed by company director Alexandra Spencer-Jones (A Clockwork Orange, Dracula and Constance & Sinestra) and starring Rachel Bright (Poppy from Eastenders) and Will Stokes (A Clockwork Orange), Busstopkisser was a finalist for the Company of Angels Young Theatremakers Award at York Theatre Royal earlier this year. It is with pleasure that Action To The Word present their premiere of the play at Camden People’s Theatre.
About the company
Action To The Word deliver dynamic, exciting and shocking theatre from new musicals to electrifying adaptations of classics. Led by Alexandra Spencer-Jones, the company is currently touring their award-winning A Clockwork Orange which is co-produced by the international producers of Stomp, Glynis Henderson Productions. Created originally for London's fringe, the show continues to thrive, running to rave reviews and a sell-out season at the Soho Theatre before touring all over the world. The Independent called it "charismatic, muscular and infinitely watchable."
This summer they will premiere their brand-new actor-musician production of Dracula, adapted by Alexandra Spencer-Jones. The show previews at Pleasance London before running at Pleasance throughout this year's Edinburgh Festival. Recently, the company won a WhatOnStage/MTM Award for their new musical Constance & Sinestra which ran at 2011's Edinburgh Festival, transferred to the New Wimbledon Theatre, played at the Latitude Festival, and continues into development in 2014. Action To The Word have also just completed their workshop production of the new immersive 1960s adaptation of The Oresteia: Eumenides, completing their Oresteia Cycle, and will further workshop BUSSTOPKISSER (Company of Angels) in June 2014.
