BEIGE WALLS AND NAVY SOFAS is a solo-storytelling piece written and performed by Courtney McMahon. The show explores Courtney’s childhood memories of her mother becoming a Foster Carerand investigatesthe relationship between Courtney and ‘Jess’; Courtney’s first foster sibling.
BEIGE WALLS AND NAVY SOFAS introduces the narrative of Foster Care from the perspective of a Fostering family. Shedding light on sisterhood, isolationand loss at a young age. “Watching Beige Walls & Navy Sofas is an experience comparable to catching up with a friend you haven’t seen in years, or perhaps even better, meeting someone for the first time and learning about their life.”–ANTHEM Online.
BEIGE WALLS ANDNAVY SOFAS was initially created as a response to the treatment of working-class families across London, and the effects ofAusterity. Currently in 2019, the political climate for Foster Carers is tense.Carers across the U.K. are fighting for legal workers status through the IWGB Union.
