Part of our Autumn 2016 season. Catch Balancing Acts in a double bill with Holy Presents – two shows for £16.

Presented by Kaleido Film Collective in collaboration with Feral Foxy Ladies

Balancing Acts invites you to share in intimate stories of struggle, strength and resistance. This solo-performance incorporates audio interviews, film, verbatim, and physical theatre to open up and respond to honest and hopeful reflections from six individuals dealing with depression and who cope in unique ways: from diving and boxing to performing and song.

By exposing these documentary perspectives on depression and healing through sensorial and interdisciplinary means, we attempt to challenge the stigma which proceeds to surround it. The show aims to build a deeper emotional insight into the experience of depression, encourage new conversations and explore ways to deal with and potentially overcome it

On the 7th December, Kaleido Film Collective & Feral Foxy Ladies will be hosting a post-show discussion after their performance BALANCING ACTS. The audience will have a chance to talk to the project team including the filmmakers and the performer, discuss the content shared through the show and the processes by which it was created.

Public reviews, work-in-progress, CPT Sprint, March 2016:

Candid, hard-hitting and achingly truthful”

Probably one of the most personal things I’ve ever seen”

“Extraordinarily moving, brave and compelling”

About the company

Filmmaking and visual anthropology collective, Kaleido Films, collaborate with theatre company Feral Foxy Ladies, to generate a new creative practice for communicating social research which challenges social stigma. We make work that blurs the boundaries of documentary and performance, in order to gain deeper emotional and sensorial insights into the human experience.

Previous collaborations include Dive or Fall (Battersea Arts Centre Freshly Scratched 2015) and I Got Dressed in Front of my Nephew Today (Vault Festival 2016, Edinburgh Fringe 2015 & Calm Down Dear, Camden People’s Theatre 2014).
