The story that built, broke and remade me
1.9 climbs bravely into the memories of a young man traversing the cityscapes of his hometown. As nostalgia for the days of callused hands, weightlessness and well worn trainers are explored; he attempts to recapture the feelings first felt when taking his leap of faith into Parkour.
This show is a sharing of my personal history with the discipline of Parkour and the injury that devastated my commitment to the movement. Since 2005 I have been involved in practicing, teaching or filming the activity. In my time spent practicing I have made a name for myself in both the Nottingham and Leicester scene. Using a combination of storytelling, spoken word, audience interaction, soundscapes and Parkour techniques, my experiences are intimately exchanged with the audience. The piece depicts aspects of community, strength, spirit and danger whilst engaging with the viewers on a highly personal level.
Catch 1.9 in a double bill with No Woman’s Land (9pm). Two shows for just £16!
