From the brilliant mind of Heidi Niemi
Diary entry 07/05/17

Another fruitful week rehearsing my show. I now fully inhabit the world of Macbeth. He lives in me, and I in him. I survive on an hour’s sleep each day, dressed head to toe in armour, my sword forever at my side. My friends and family are nothing to me. I trust no one. In fact, I have managed to tap into the core of his character so successfully that now the “director” and my prop boy cannot see where Heidi ends and Macbeth begins. Amateurs. Perhaps they shall meet the same fate as Banquo.

Diary entry 07/05/17

Dear Diary,

The second week of rehearsals are done, and talk about intense! Heidi is taking her process to the limits, that’s for sure. She’s changed her diet to match what it would have been for Scots back in medieval times, and even when we’re on a break she carries her sword around with her, just like Macbeth would have done! It’s basically like she’s Leo in ‘The Revenant.’ I bet she’d even grow a beard if she could! I’m a little bit worried about the ending of the show, because we still haven’t gone over it. Whenever Macduff is supposed to enter and kill Macbeth, Heidi stops rehearsals and says she’s not ready yet. I thought about chatting to the director about it to see what the plan is, but Heidi isn’t letting us talk to each other now because she said that would make us “traitors”. I guess she’s trying to create the same atmosphere there would have been in the castle, so that when we finally do get to the ending she’ll be ready. I’m learning so much from her! What an experience this is shaping up to be!

One woman. All the roles. A quest for total POWER! Don’t miss MacBETTI 16-20 May.
