It is with great regret that we have taken the decision to cease Camden People’s Theatre’s programme of performance, with immediate effect.
Having spoken to our artists, staff, board and to colleagues across the industry – and particularly in light of the government’s advice yesterday – we are therefore suspending all scheduled performances at CPT from tonight until mid-May at the earliest. (We will remain open in the daytime for rehearsals and R&D work.) It is heartbreaking to have to take this step – with all its grave implications for artists we work with and freelancers who work with us.
We will do everything we can to support those artists and freelancers least able to weather this crisis. We would welcome the support in turn of anyone who can help us through this unprecedentedly difficult time.
We will be in touch with all ticket holders over the next few days; please bear with us. With Arts Council England and our fellow theatres, we will then continue working as best we can to ensure the sustainability of the performing arts sector, and to ensure we can all return – stronger than ever – when this crisis abates. We are also thinking creatively about how else we can share our artists’ work with audiences. Watch this space.
In the meantime, our thoughts are with all those directly affected by the virus. Please feel free to get in touch, either by calling 0207 419 4841 or emailing [email protected] and we’ll aim to respond to you within 48 hours.

Support Camden People’s Theatre
Our mission is to support young and emerging artists making inventive new theatre – particularly about issues that matter to people right now. During this time, any donation – large or small – has a huge impact, helping to secure the future of CPT; the building, staff and many artists we work with.
